Drs. Harwell and Gentile have facilitated the development of a series of ecological conceptual models that have been incorporated into the South Florida ecosystem restoration process, have developed another series of conceptual models for the US Department of Justice in support of a major natural resource damage assessment case in the Coeur d'Alene River basin, and assisted the US Army Corps of Engineers in conceptual modeling of the Fire Island estuary and barrier island ecosystem.

They have worked closely with the US Environmental Protection Agency in training EPA scientists and managers in cumulative risk assessment concepts and procedures. Harwell Gentile & Associates LC also provides scientific advice to ExxonMobil Corporation on issues relating to the Exxon Valdez oil spill. In addition, HGA provided expert advice and risk assessment analyses to Florida Power & Light and New Brunswick Power in support of licensing processes to convert power plants in Florida and Canada from burning fuel oil to use of ORIMULSION™.

HGA affiliates Drs. Diego Lirman and Jerry Ault provide considerable additional expertise on coral and seagrass ecosystems, fisheries science and management, ecological modeling from population to landscape levels, and coupling of physical and biological processes.
